Anamayakosha, The Physical Body Adaptive Power Chair Yoga for Mixed Levels 40mins
Anamayakosha, physical body - Power Yoga and Adaptive Power Chair Yoga for Mixed Levels is a more advanced chair yoga class. There is more focus on the breath and isometric movements to build strength and endurance. Modify and adapt as needed to support your practice. This is a focus on the Anamaya Kosha, the layer of our life that reflects what we take into our bodies, and nourishes ourselves and the senses.
We are focusing on Anamayakoska the 1st of the 5 Koshas. This sequence is designed to encourage you to experience how we connect to the tangible layer of the body. Everything we are eating and consuming is drawn from this 1st layer. Being mindful of how we work through each of these layers as they evolve from one another.
We utilize the chair as a tool to help us explore the different abilities we have by growing through the practice of yoga and adapting the postures to meet our needs. It is a great way to learn balance and embody the experience.
Anamayakosha is the first of the 5 layers of the subtle bodies known as the Koshas. We will explore them on our journey through the Koshas. We take time to ground and feel, to connect within, and discover what it means to hold space for ourselves. Do this practice before bed on an empty stomach. For a deeper experience, try elevating the legs on a wall or with pillows.
As this Kosha tends to be one that is more vulnerable and lives on the surface level, today's journaling prompt is one that will challenge you to show up for yourself in an honest way.
Use this guided yoga nidra meditation to help you begin your journey.
You will go through a variety of experiences and I encourage you to take this time to discover what it is that you have found yourself struggling with.
We utilize these poses as tools to help explore the different abilities we have by growing through the practice of yoga and adapting the postures to meet our needs. It is a great way to learn balance and embody the experience.
Use the following videos to discover yoga in an accessible form. Any type of chair will do, however, chairs without arms on the side are the best tool for this practice.
