Our Mental and Emotional State of Being through Trauma, Depression, and Suicide
Mental Health is at the forefront of importance, now more than ever before.
If you notice someone is going through a difficult time, (even if you feel, “well hey, we all are”…), know that some may not have the tools and support that you may have or even the motivation to keep going on. They could be at “their lowest.”
Something as simple as not taking the trash out may trigger a downward spiral of emotions. The “click out.”
We just never know what someone is going through behind the mask we all wear (figuratively and literally).
3 Points Dr. Tony Nader makes about understanding the current evolution of mental health:
“Do not Panic, trust in our togetherness to do something that is absolutely great. We have a responsibility to fight this disease by making the immune system strong, keeping our bodies healthy so our bodies can defend themselves. Antibiotics, generally do not work on viruses (except in extremely rare cases). Ayurveda helps in a progressive direction.” Dr. Tony Nader (FBLive Video) @tonynader
“Dissociative Identity Disorder - aka multiple personalities, shifting from one personality to the next and the physiological changes that are affected by each “switch”. (in reference to the click out response)
In one person, one might eat strawberries and be ok with them and in another identity shift, they may be highly allergic and respond differently. Just the personality shifted, but so did the physiology and the sensitivity to the strawberries.” - Dr. Tony Nader
“Our body is reacting to foreign material and the body has to balance this reaction in such a way that it can destroy the virus but not the body. So the body does not over-react. All the isolation, separation, stress, and fear caused by the current pandemic, leads to forms of panic and strain which do not help us. We need to have a healthy mind and body. The impact of the mind and how physiology works are studied in Psychoneuroendochrinoimunology, influences from the mind on the nervous system, from the nervous system on the endocrine (hormones and secretion of hormones) system, and leading to how our human system reacts.” - Dr.Tony Nader

Stats of Suicide
Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 44 according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Furthermore, they continue to share, Suicide is among the leading causes of death in the United States. Based on recent mortality data, suicide in some populations is on the rise. https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide

3 main definitions are mentioned:
Suicide is defined as death caused by self-directed injurious behavior with the intent to die as a result of the behavior.
A suicide attempt is a non-fatal, self-directed, potentially injurious behavior with the intent to die as a result of the behavior. A suicide attempt might not result in injury.
Suicidal ideation refers to thinking about, considering, or planning suicide.
A study shared by the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS Data Brief No. 398, February 2021), revealed a startling amount of deaths amongst males 75+ yrs of age.
Based on data from the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), among adults across all age groups, the prevalence of serious suicidal thoughts was highest among young adults aged 18-25 (11.8%).
Some may not even be aware that they have a mood imbalance, mental/ emotional/ imbalance, or play it off as “mercury in retrograde,” or simply dismiss it or play it off in denial.
How we integrate a consciousness-based approach in supporting mental well-being…
Start Here Checklist to ask oneself:
I would first start with looking at the side effects of every medication that you are taking and check if it affects your mood.
Second, what foods are we eating or not eating? Are you eating healthy and enriching foods to stimulate nourishment for the brain and body?
What are your surroundings?
What is the company you keep?
Are you drinking plenty of water?
What activities are you doing or not doing?
What would you like to be doing or not doing?
What are areas you want to improve on, and what seems to be keeping you stuck?
When was the last time you had a hearty laugh?
When was the last time you were able to express yourself without judgment and be heard?
How many times do you catch yourself reverting back to old habits and ways of thought?
What is one thing you can change today?
Know that you are not alone on this journey.
Are you Resting in Your Wholeness?- Meredith Hart
In one way or another, we all have been impacted by the pain that suicide can bring. Be it watching a loved one transitioning and feeling helpless, someone taking their life while you are in the other room, saying goodnight to a friend not to ever see them again, the list goes on…we have seen some of the world’s most talented beings end their lives due to the suffering of this silent killer as they staged a smile for the camera.
This is a time to “check-in with yourself up there” and in your heart. You are not alone. There is a community of support out there that is available to you. Below are some resources that we have pulled together to support you along this path.
There are many outlets to express ourselves, but are we truly being heard?
