Start Here: Root Chakra Overview (YTT)

We cover a high-level in-depth overview of the root chakra known as Muladhara in Sanskrit.

Color: Red

Bija Mantra: Lam

Yantra: Golden Square

Element: Earth

Key Principles:

Muladhara: root, the foundation of support

to find the way back to one body

The container of the body.

Balance in this energy center requires the support of the ground, a firm foundation, and an appropriate level of holding (an ability to have)

When we push down into the earth, we generate energy in the body.

Use the body as a vehicle for liberation.

Muladhara is intimately connected with birth and the first year of life.

Deficiency: Avoidance; chakra contracts; no energy can go through

Excess: Chakra expands too much as a coping mechanism; energy still gets trapped

Samskaras: habitual tendencies and patterns of the personality

The body shapes itself around the amount of charge an individual needs to hold (or release) while growing up.

Muladhara is comprised in the modern world as our health care system, environment, economy, and birthing practices.

Note: Fear causes the body to constrict and contract. In this state of contraction, energy cannot flow.
