Pranamaya Kosha Mellow Medium Flow for Intermediate Yoga 40mins
Pranamaya Kosha is the 2nd of the 5 Koshas. This sequence is designed to encourage you to experience how we connect to the energetic layer of the body taking our external circumstances and breathing new life into them. Through the breath, we purify the physiology, retaining only what is nourishing. This is the fire that drives us to go for our desires and manifest our dreams.
We dive deeper into each of these Koshas or subtlest layers of the body in our teacher training programs. Members, also get the opportunity to preview a mini-course.
Pranamaya Kosha -The Energy Body
We can feel the energy as a sensation in the body very clearly. Even though we can not see energy, the sensations in our bodies give us clear, instinctual signals. The energy body speaks through bodily sensations without language, such as gut feelings or impulses.
It is the prana of the energy body that makes the heartbeat and the lungs breathe. When the energy body leaves the physical body, the physical body dies.
It is prana that maintains homeostasis in the body. It is the same prana that takes us back to the formless. Prana is the Spirit in you. Christianity calls this the 'Holy Spirit." It is that which connects the "Son" (you and I) to the "Father" (Source).
When the Prana body or Spirit is very strong, the Prana body can even become visible to the naked eye as a certain glow or aura emanating from around the body. (This is where we get auric readings) This is depicted as a halo around saints and mystics in many traditions.
Always listen to your body and adapt the poses to work for you. All Bodies are different. In this video, we work on spinal rotation and use gentle poses that are accessible to most practitioners. Modifications offer alternative solutions to make these few poses a bit more adaptive.
