How to Read the 4 layers of the Pulse (Nadi Vigyan) | Ayurveda Pulse Reading
In this video, we go through a high-level overview of how to read the 4 layers of the pulse. Also known as Nadi Vigyan. Why is the Ayurvedic Pulse Reading Technique fundamental to the study of Ayurveda?
Vigyan is Knowledge and we utilize this practice to asses the level of imbalance and balance in human physiology reading the 3 inner intelligences, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Imbalances can transform into dis-ease and disease. Nadi Vigyan is a tool to prevent the onset of illness.
The 4 levels of the Pulse are surface, sub, deep, and Dhatu levels.
The 4 levels we review are:
1. Surface Level - Where we find the gunas of the Doshas
2. Sub-Doshas - Just beneath the surface in the upper 1/3 level where we discover our agni and the qualities (gunas) of the doshas within each. There are 15 sub-doshas altogether.
3. Deep Level - This is in the third 1/3 level where we get the most accurate account of what is happening beneath the surface and provides deeper insight into the inner intelligence.
4. Dhatu level - which is in the middle 1/3 level of the pulse and pulls together the information from the gunas to discover balance or imbalances in the Dhatus, thus contributing more insight into the upadhatus.
