Working through Emotions with Manomaya Kosha

Legit, there are times that I let my emotions get the best of me. Some are harder to let go of than others. The reason being, what we have gone through on the level I call the manifest life. Everything that I have experienced from what I can remember of childhood and through adulthood, my responses, reactions, escapes…

I think about how I felt, what I was eating, who I was around, what I was doing, and how I got to where I am today. There are times, someone or something may remind me or take me back to a time, and if I am not aware, I may revert back to the same conditioned behavior I was used to portraying in the past.

Manomaya kosha is the level that works with our emotions - as you are beginning to realize. If we are having a “bad day,” then everything around us will seem to “fall apart.” On the contrary, if we are elated and experience a “good day,” then it seems everything is “falling into place.”

Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Hiking, and Rest have been valuable resources in providing the necessary tools of giving the body and mind the ability to enter into the transcendent states, returning to restfulness and wholeness, being in oneness with ourselves.

One is restored to balance when they are able to come back to home base.

We are entering into the mental body known as Manomaya Kosha, the body made up of thought processes. It is the outer mind that allows us to receive and digest sensory impressions from the outside environment. The mental body is the most connected with our eyes. When we close our eyes, we immediately begin to quiet the mental body. This is the practice of yoga, the stilling of these fluctuations of the mind. Connecting to the inner Being.

As we live our daily life, we are taking in everything surrounding us, impacting our thoughts, responses, senses, and emotions. Our mind is now processing what the body has retained and from that, formulating a way to decipher what it all means. Emotions rise to the surface from the intellect. They are the manifest of the energy and intake that the body has processed, physically and energetically. They emerge from the subtle layers within us, like a diver that has now reached a slightly deeper level or a cloth that has been dipped in a vat of dye repeatedly. Each time, we come to the surface and react to the experiences of the physical and energetic levels in more conscious ways, we are responding based on how the intellect receives the information and is making a choice to respond (becoming balanced) or react (remaining out of balance).

Today’s video will lead you through a powerful journey through movement, breath, and insight. Take time to journal, reflect and allow yourself to sit in the memories, the emotions that may have been attached to them, and give yourself permission to feel, so you can heal.
