Being Human during Turbulent Times
As Yoga teacher Brett Larkin says, “I am not just a human Doing, I am a Human Being.” Her quote lends itself to the topic of Last week, we went over the importance of Valuing your Self-Worth and Genuine love for ourselves by learning how to embrace loneliness. We get so caught up in the cycle of doing that we forget the importance of just being. Pulling ourselves away from the computer because of working remotely, teaching remotely, and attending school remotely, although is meant to simplify our lives, has also become an incredibly powerful addiction.
Overcoming the Fear of Loneliness
Deepak Chopra says, “the more tuned in you are to the mind of nature, the more you have access to its infinite, unbounded creativity. But first, you have to go beyond the turbulence (Pragya aparadh), of your internal dialogue to connect with that abundant, affluent, infinite, creative mind.”
Working Through Grief with Ayurveda
Waves of grief come large and small. Moments of stillness, joy, and despair.
Memories that plague the mind and the cycles of the shadow that is cast with no face.
Grief is each person's way of processing deep loss, and also a season, a personal winter of hurt that never truly goes away.
It is what we “grow” through and how we slowly take moments to heal. No one outside can provide that for you, it is the time of human purification through such loss that burns. It impacts every aspect of our health.
We are not alone in our experiences of pain. All experiencing our own version. However, grateful to still be alive and present.
Pragya Aparadh “can dismantle the world as we know it. That’s why most people prefer to remain on the surface of things.” - Lily Tomlin (I Heart Huckabees)

Creating Healthy Daily Routines Dinacharya and Ritucharya
According to the Charaka Samhita - Chapter 6, ‘For the maintenance of the equilibrium of dhatus, one should follow proper activities and diet having properties opposite to the geographical condition, season and physical constitution of the individual; one should observe proper utilization of (physical and mental) capabilities as well as of available resources like time (Kala); One should avoid excess utilization of anything; one should not suppress manifested natural urges and should also avoid working beyond one’s capacity. [8]’
The Fire of Your Life in Ayurveda, Agni
“Without proper diet, medicine is of no use. With proper diet, medicine is of no need.”
So what is Agni?
The literal translation means fire. Or to ignite. It is responsible for our digestion, metabolism, and conversion. According to the Ayurvedic texts, It is the heat that processes our body temperature, radiance, biochemical transformations, as well as our life span, complexion, strength, enthusiasm, energy, vitality, health, and immune system. (Kshirsagar, Magno, p20) It is vitally important and when functioning poorly can lead to the imbalances of Vishama, Tikshna, and Manda agni. These 3 are part of the 4 Agnis that are known as our Digestive Intelligence.

My Takeaway from COVID-19
I find that this COVID situation has shown me how important having a healthy immune system truly is. Over the last 7 days, I have been battling COVID, and in the last few days have been feeling stronger, healthier, and more energetic by integrating the Ayurvedic remedies I had been very passionate about.
Vitamin C-rich foods, zinc, iron, potassium, have been revitalizing my body. Light exercise such as Maharishi Yoga Asana and light weights at home, has been giving me more endurance and alleviating the body sores from COVID or whatever variant I have.
Ayurveda A Natural Way to Restore Health and Well-Being: The Fight Against COVID-19 and Its Counterparts
According to our individual composition, or Prakriti, we are lovingly designed by the 3 main doshas. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Vata dosha is responsible for movement, communication, and transportation. It tends to flourish the most in the winter season as it has gunas or qualities known to be cold, rough, coarse, dry, brittle, airy, spacious, and irregular. Pitta is responsible for the metabolic processes of digestion and is the governor of our Agni or digestive fire. There are 13 agnis, which I go into in AYTT, that contribute to how we digest the information taken in and how it is nourished within our dhatus or tissues. Pitta qualities (gunas) tend to be sharp, hot, pungent, aggressive, and become aggravated when more heat is applied. Pitta season is the summertime and its peak time is mid-day and mid-night. Kapha is the sweet, subtle, soft, stable, and structured version of ourselves. Responsible for lubrication, cohesion, and foundation. I like to think of Kapha as the root chakra of our being. Kapha dosha is quite content where it is and does not like many surprises. More like…

Making Your Own Malas
Let's begin with the origin of the auspicious number 108. According to Marma Adi and Ayurveda, there are 108 pressure points in the body, where consciousness and flesh intersect to give life to the living being. In the Sanskrit alphabet, there are 54 letters. Each letter has a masculine (Shiva) and feminine (Shakti) energy 54 X 2 = 108. In yoga, the number 108 refers to spiritual completion.

Seasons of Change
As we enter into another season, we notice the changes in and around us. The temperature is cooler, traditions return, and the spirit of the holidays is upon us. With that, will come a flood of emotions that have been suppressed for some time, to be awakened or triggered when visiting with family. Like most LatinX and Hispanic families, there tend to be deep family secrets and emotions that ignite the deepest of flames. Wounds open, and others heal.
